A branch is hanging over my gutter. Can I cut it back?
Often, yes. North Sydney Council allows maintenance pruning without a permit where a branch is within 1 metre of a building, eaves and gutters included, provided the branch is no thicker than 100 mm and you take off less than 10% of the tree's crown. If the tree is a protected one on your neighbour's land, you ask council before pruning it back to the boundary. Check the council's tree page before anyone picks up a saw. I don't prune trees, but I'll show you which branch is causing the trouble.
Where will you park, and do you need to come through the house?
We'll sort that out between us at the quote. In most cases I can get onto the roof from outside, without coming through the house.
Can you give me a price over the phone?
No. I come out and look first, and it costs you nothing. Roofs in this part of Sydney vary too much, and you shouldn't pay for a guess.
