The bush fire danger period in NSW normally starts on 1 October. The Rural Fire Service tells homeowners to clean leaves and twigs out of their gutters and suggests metal gutter guards. If you only book one clean a year, this is the one. I recommend gutter guard, and I fit it.
Trees don't stop dropping leaves once the gutters are clean, so it's worth a look up there partway through summer. If you have solar panels, this is also when they earn their keep, and I can clean them on the same visit.
Sydney's biggest downpours tend to come in late summer and autumn. On a large roof, a lot of water has to get down a handful of downpipes. I clear every one and check the water is getting away.
The quiet months are the time to deal with anything I pointed out earlier in the year, before spring comes round again. I do minor repairs myself. I'll talk them through with you at the quote, or on the day if I find something while I'm cleaning.

Clear gutters don't help much if the downspout underneath is blocked. Corey checks and clears downspouts so water actually drains away from your home instead of backing up and overflowing.

Northern Beaches Council lets you prune up to 10% of a tree's canopy in any 12 months without a permit. Anything more on a tree 5 metres or taller needs council approval, so most of the time the tree stays as it is and the gutters need doing regularly.
