A letter to Artarmon homeowners about your gutters
Dear Artarmon homeowner,
My name's Corey, I run Alert Gutter Cleaning out of Cromer, and I look after gutters across the Northern Beaches and North Shore, including your part of the North Shore. I wanted to write this straight to you rather than just list services, because Artarmon isn't a one-size suburb when it comes to gutters.
Houses east of the line, apartments west of it
Artarmon splits pretty cleanly down the middle of the railway line. West of the tracks you've got the high-rise and unit blocks, and east of the tracks you've got freestanding houses and townhouses on the residential streets. If you're in one of those unit blocks, your gutters are almost always a strata matter, not something I'd quote a single owner for, so this letter's really aimed at the houses and townhouses on the eastern side. Roughly 68% of Artarmon's occupied dwellings are flats or apartments and around 23% are separate houses, so if you're reading this as a house or townhouse owner, you're already in the minority worth writing to directly.
The trees are the job, not just the scenery
Artarmon still has a leafy feel even with all the development around it, and that's exactly what fills a gutter. Willoughby Council, which covers Artarmon, has fairly strict rules on what you can and can't do to a tree on your own property: anything over about 4 metres tall or with a trunk over 600mm around generally needs a permit before you touch it, and Council won't approve cutting a tree back just because it's dropping leaves, bark or seed pods into your gutters. That means the leaf load from a mature tree next door or over your own roof usually isn't something you can legally thin out yourself, so the gutters end up doing all the work of catching what falls. I only clean what's in the gutter and downpipe, I don't prune or remove branches.
Fully insured, and I'll tell you what I see
I'm fully insured for every job I do, on a house or a townhouse, single storey or double. I quote every job in person myself, there's no call centre and no subcontractor turning up in my place, and I take before and after photos so you can see exactly what came out. It doesn't really change my approach either way, I'll talk through access and pricing with you directly when I quote, whatever style of place you're in.
